Smalltalk

I don’t have anything major to write about so I decided to do something I think I’m good at. Make smalltalk! Its fun. It can lead to new friendships and is a handy tool for boredom avoidance. But it can be tough if the other person doesn’t respond. I’m hoping all you readers wouldn’t act like that.

So what better way to start it than talking about the weather! For the past two weeks now, Bangalore has been really wet. And the rain has amazing timing. It starts to rain every time I decide to go out. But I still don’t let the rain ruin my plans.

Also, I have noticed that I am mostly happier when I am alone compared to when I am with people. Not with all people but some of them. Does that mean something? Apart from the fact that I am more fun than those people.

In other unrelated news, I have a doubt in my mind. I wonder if my blog personality runs a risk of coming across as a mimbo. Fortunately, I don’t have any such fears in real life. So what do all of you think?

Update: I think I inadvertently became an accomplice to a suicide yesterday. I was on my my way home when I noticed a cockroach crossing the road. And before I could do anything, it got smashed under the front wheel. Now, this may seem like an accident but think about it. Why does a cockroach need to cross the road? It doesn’t! Which is why I think it was a suicide attempt. And well-timed too! I just hope that the police doesn’t investigate the case.

My Life as a Movie

As far back as I can remember, I always imagined my life to be a movie once in a while. And this was much before “The Truman Show”. So in my movie, I am obviously the protagonist and the people I know have key roles of varying importance. Some people have main roles, some recurring, others have guest appearances and then there are lots of extras. Though it can get boring at times, it’s mostly interesting with unexpected twists and turns. Is it common for people to think of their lives as a movie? I’d like to know!

I recently saw this movie, “Stranger than Fiction”, in which a guy starts hearing his life being narrated as he leads it. Now that would be annoying! I would never want that to happen to me. But I wouldn’t mind having some background music in my life. Cheerful music when I am happy, suspenseful music when I am anxious, sad or soothing music when I am down and no music at the time of important and serious events. Just like in the movies. That would be fun, right? Even few original theme songs wouldn’t hurt!

While on the subject of movies, I finally got around watching “Before Sunrise” last Saturday. I remember watching first few minutes of the movie years ago on TV and I didn’t like it much back then. I later learnt how it was considered a modern romantic classic of sorts and I got the DVD from a friend months ago so I finally relented and decided to give it a try even though I generally avoid sappy romantic movies. I ended up liking it mostly for its realism. In fact, I liked it so much that I watched the sequel “Before Sunset” the same day. And I liked it better than the first, which happens very rarely. Also, Julie Delpy is brilliant in both the movies, more so in the second one.

I got tagged by Amodini yesterday and since I was already writing this post, I though I would include the tag right here.

The rules of the tag are:

  1. You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name.
  2. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
  3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.

But I’m gonna twist and turn the rules cos its fun that way!

So I may or may not have a middle name but I’m gonna go ahead with “Raj”.

R – I’ve registered myself on so many websites in the past seven and a half years that every time I come across a seemingly new site, I first key in the default username and password I normally use and more often than not, I’m already registered.

A – A lot of people think I’m arrogant. I am not sure if I am. Who cares!

J – I’m bad at telling dirty jokes. And that’s why I never do it! Now that’s one weakness I can live with.

Those were three perfectly useless facts about me. Let me know if you’d be interested in knowing more such facts about me!

Anybody who is in dire need of subject for a new post should feel free to pick this tag up.
