New Sensation

So Rockstar:INXS came to an end this week with JD winning and becoming the new front man for INXS. Good for him. Even though I wanted Marty to win, I somehow feel that INXS made the right decision. I mean, JD has a huge fan base that will automatically become INXS fan base now plus JD does have the rock star thing going on for him. Well, I wish them best of luck. What made me really happy though was that they eliminated Mig early on in the show. He sucks.

One more thing that I like about the finale was the absence of drama that we usually show in all reality finales. All the other contestants were present at the finale but neither we saw much of them nor did they speak a word.

In the end, INXS with their new lead singer JD premiered a new song, “Easy, Easy” and it sounded pretty good. So it was a good end to a good show.

Rock Star:INXS Week 9 aka Boring!

After Ty’s shocking (really??) elimination, the remaining five finalists had the customary “I love the person who got eliminated so much” toast and then Jordis lost me like forever by saying that she should have been the one to go. You can never do that as long as you are still in the competition and anybody who does should be eliminated irrespective of his or her merit.

This week’s clinic involved getting their professional photos taken. In short, Jordis had some problems; Mig was too sexy for his own good and the rest were fine. Dave thought Jordis was uncomfortable in front of the camera. I thought she wanted to get out of the show.

It was JD’s birthday and cake fight ensued. I hate cake fights. I hate the use of cake other than for eating. Group shower, which I hate even more, followed the cake fight.

This week the rockers got to perform a fan favorite song and an original song.

JD: Okayish job singing “Come As You Are”. His original song, “Pretty Vegas”, sounded good. He was less annoying this week than ever before.

Suzie: Next, please.

Mig: I hope he wins. I don’t like him too much but he is all right for INXS.

Jordis: She sang, “We Are the Champions” as a loser would sing it. I swear I could still see some tears forming in her eyes. Why? Her original song, “Try Not” was boring.

Marty: He just might win this thing. He is good.

The elimination show was one hour long this week too. Jordis, JD and Suzie (The erstwhile queen of bottom three) were in the bottom three. Jordis got eliminated and everybody in the auditorium including INXS knew that this isn’t the last of her that we will see.

INXS have somehow managed to end up with the four most boring people in the final four.

Who will win? I don’t know. Does anyone even care?

Rock Star:INXS Week 8 aka Rockstars Ain’t Classy

This week the contestants were asked to perform for a new INXS song in the studio and we got the usual drama. JD wasn’t prepared well, Jordis changed the melody, Suzie bitched some more and the rest remained out of focus.

Since “our band” INXS has already said that it isn’t about the performance anymore, I’ll just tell you what I think of the contestants (which I do in any case).

Suzie: She seems to have become a star all of a sudden but I think she still sucks. She was just okay with her rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and managed to show her lack of class with her facial expressions throughout the elimination show. And she got the encore, again. If she wins, the rest of INXS members will have to commit suicide too.

Mig: I have to admit that in the first episode he seemed like the gayest thing ever to happen to rock but even though he has changed his image since then, he isn’t very good. Good, but not very good. But at least he still has class.

Jordis: Something seems to have happened to her. Somebody broke her. And what’s the deal with the constantly watery eyes? She is going downhill every week, it was sad to see her in the bottom three. I hope she doesn’t win and has a successful solo career.

Marty: To me, he is non-existent so lets move on.

JD: Yes!! In the bottom three!! You’re going home soon!!!

Ty: It’s the spikes. I hate spikes. I don’t think I can like anyone who has pointy, scary spikes on his head. I can’t thank INXS enough for sending him home. And even on his way out, Ty cried and played the race card again. Real classy!

“Our band” INXS: What is Suzie paying them to praise her average performances so much?

The Bling Thing

Lots of new R&B/ Hip-Hop songs coming out these days. Here’s how a few that I heard faired:

Pon De Replay by Rihanna is pretty good. She’s new so her style is little different from others. Let’s see if she manages to retain her style. 7/10

Bananza (Belly Dancer) by Akon is good and remarkably different from his earlier hit, “Lonely”. Variety is almost non-existent these days. 6.5/10

Touch by Amerie is okay, at best. The video’s great and Amerie is hot but with lyrics like “Don’t be afraid to touch, I know you think I’m a good girl, don’t you think a girl like me can be (touched)”, how could the song be. 4.5/10

Represent Me by Ciara is good given that it is just for the DVD. It’s a little flat but still good. 5.5/10

We Be Burnin by Sean Paul is as irritating as any other song of his. Of course, no song can suck as much as “Gimme The Light” so it’s not that bad. 3.5/10

N Dey Say by Nelly is a good song coming from him after a long time. I like it. 7/10

Appreciate by LaToya London f/ Black Thought is above average. Lets see what the American Idol reject is able to achieve.6.5/10

Rock Star:INXS Week 6 aka Finally!!

Drama ensued when the contestants were divided into two groups and asked to write a song for a new tune.

The two groups were:-

Ty(leader), Deanna, Suzie and Mig
&
Marty(leader), Jordis, Jessica and JD.

There was trouble when Marty decided that he was Papa bear, Jordis - Mama bear, Jessica - (justborn)baby bear and JD - outsider bad bear. JD wanted to be loved and accepted but Jordis & Marty rebuked him and he left home.

The other group wrote a traffic drill theme song,”Stop!Go!”. No, really.

In the end, Ty’s team won because of team work even though “our band”INXS thought that JD’s effort was the best.

JD and Marty almost fought over it the next day.

This week had fairly good performances:

Jordis - Great job singing “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”.

Jessica - Torn

Jessica - Surprisingly good rendition of “Torn”. She looked good too having managed to wear something decent.

Suzie - She is so boring that I started thinking abt something else.

JD - Okay performance.

Deanna - She looks good.

Marty - Couldn’t help laughing when he tried singing “O baby baby” in a dark manner. Whoever decided to make him sing “Baby One More Time” should be shot in the head.

Mig - Very good as usual singing “Baby I Love Your Way”.

Ty - Couldn’t care less abt him. I just don’t like him. He is like JD but boring.

Moving on to the elimination show, Mig got the encore and called Jordis & Marty to join him on the stage because they all love each other. (Makes me sick.)

Jessica (4th time), Deanna & Suzie(3rd time) landed in the bottom three.

Jessica was finally eliminated because she was “not right” for “our band”INXS. Well, it had to happen but its sad that Jessica went home the week she gave her best performance. INXS could have easily gotten rid of her few weeks ago which made them look like asses too this week.

Jessica goodbye

Goodbye, Jessica. You will be missed(by me, at least).

Prediction time:-

Next to go: Suzie

Final three: Jordis, Mig, Marty
