I discovered a lot of songs that you used to like once but hadn’t heard in a long time. Some of these songs also brought back memories of the times when I first heard the song and all the things that I assoicate with the song. Felt nice!

Living in India makes most people indifferent towards poverty and I must confess that I too am guilty of doing it. But I still believe its important to do whatever one could to help the needy. I always have and still think the best way to help is by ensuring that you empower the person in need of help to lead a good life and the best way to do that is by sponsoring a child. Just a small contribution every month can change someone’s life. I plan to do it very soon and will post all the details on this blog when I do it. And like I have done in the past, I again request everyone to sponsor a child.

I’ve known about 43 things since its launch and lots of my friends made a list for themselves but I somehow didn’t feel the need. That’s until now! Today, I finally decided to make the list just to have all (okay, most!) of my short and long term goals at one place. The final list can be viewed here. It consists of 14 items for now. I’m already working on some of the goals (learn a foreign language, learn to play the guitar). Few are to be followed throughout my life (go to the gym regularly, to live instead of exist, take more pictures, travel more, meet new people). Few are yet to be started (learn to cook, learn to dance). Some are one time, easily achievable goals but what I never get around doing (go to a concert, get a massage) and some not-so-easy ones (go bungee jumping). And there’s one long term goal (Own my own business) although that’s something I’d love to do and not really a goal. I’ve still kept it on the list. I wonder how many of these will I be able to complete! Do you have a similar list?

Since end of December last year, my phone had suddenly started behaving badly. All files stored on it became read-only, it couldn’t be synced with a PC anymore and no new programs could be installed on it. In short, it had turned into a low-end phone. I even came close to losing all my contacts because of it. After looking for a solution online for months, searching for an exact error message lead me to a really useful thread on Microsoft Forums of all places. The last post on this page (couldn’t find a direct link!) provided the solution and once I followed it, my phone was miraculously back t normal. And guess who the culprit turned out to be – Word Mobile. Incredible, isn’t it? I would never have believed that Word could render a mobile phone useless if I hadn’t experienced it myself. Anyways, I’m ecstatic that my phone is back to normal now. The world is beautiful again, the birds are chirping…you get the drift!

I learnt about this extremely useful Firefox extension in a post about being industrious. It allows you to block all the websites that you think you waste a lot of time on. As the description says: “All you need to do is specify which sites to block and when to block them.” Really! You can create different sets of sites and block them during different hours of the day. What’s really great is that it does not allow you to edit the options for a set during the time of the block so you can’t do much in a moment of weakness. I’ve been using it for the past one week and so far it’s been great. So if you use Firefox then this might be a good tool for fighting distractions at work. Go ahead, give it a try! Get it here!

So last Saturday morning at 5, I heard some strange and loud noises. It sounded like a cat and it just kept going on and on and I finally had to get out of my bed to see what was going on. I was a little weary of going out cos the cat sounded angry and I was afraid that it might attack me. So I turned on the light of the front yard and turned out that two cats were standing there – growling and fighting (and drooling a lot, for some reason). After a while, they started physically attacking each other. I couldn’t take it anymore and so I opened the door at this moment and both the cats ran to the neighbor’s house. I returned to my bed but I could still hear them shouting and rolling on the neighbor’s roof. I believe cats are evil and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen cats engaging in such behavior. I wrote this post about it. Maybe these people are right. Cats are aliens!
