Colorblindness and Blurred Memories
// February 3rd, 2008 // Life, Ranting
Two days ago, I decided to take a seemingly harmless test on Facebook, the colorblindness test. But soon enough, it turned my world around. I only managed to score 2/10 and the second one was more of a guess. Yes, turns out I am colorblind! So all these years when I looked at something and thought it was of a particular color, it probably wasn’t. And now I’ll have to spend the rest of my life knowing that I might be seeing things a little differently than others. Sucks! Whats worse is that none of my friends are colorblind. All of them scored 10/10. Which is why I need support from other colorblind people. If you are on Facebook, you can take the quiz here. Otherwise, you can take the quiz here. And let me know if you are colorblind. We can share the pain!
In other news, for the lack of something better to do, I was just sitting and thinking. And I realized that even though I remember random events from the past three years, the time line is a little blurred. I don’t remember exactly when I did what. Thats probably due to the monotonous nature of my life. Thankfully, I have my blog to help me out. The archives help me remember all the major things that happened in the past two and a half years. That’s one more compelling reason to blog!

being one of dpeople who is not color blind i dnt kno whether i qualify to leav a comment or not
but being color blind doesnt hamper anythin that u do ..
and i totally agree wid d blurred memories thing.. u kno i am goin to leav college soon and i wish i cud bag all d good memories and keep them wid me .. which i cant seem to coz most of them r blurred or just not there anymore..
i hate endings
and as u kno this is goin to b a particularly sad one fr me
I had seen this app before on facebook and when i scrolled through the questions, I thought it was some kind of fun since i was not able to make out any of the numbers…
today i took the test and managed only 6 out of 10
and the avg score is 97 % !!!
even in the result page, i was scanning through the image to find the right answer and I couldn’t..
you just found one more almost colorblind buddy … by the way “thanks”
anyway i am going to make some of my colleagues take this test and hopefully i will find some company there…
I think that test is bogus. Dont let some stupid meme on Facebook affect your life. If you think you have a problem, go to a doctor and have it checked professionally.
I tested low on this test as well and I have literally no problems with color blindness.
I got a 10/10. But seriously you should get a professional opinion.
[...] Raj found out that he was color blind and requested his readers to take the color blindness test on [...]
What’s interesting to me is how non-compelling the test is if you don’t know what you’re seeing. I am not color blind, so maybe you can shed some light on this for me. When you look at the images, do you see other numbers? If so, I can see why you would have continued the test, but if not, it seems that one would choose to give up since they can’t see any of the potential answers on a given image.
Interesting test though.
I took the test and got all correct. Color blindness is a rare phenomenon and it does not mean you can’t discern colors. But didn’t they give you this test before you took your job ? This is a mandatory test for almost all companies.
I took the test and got 100% which raises my suspicion about the test, because i do have some problem in recognizing certain colour. and yea didnt u took a medical examination for doing engineering?? they do check about colourblindness then.
May be readjust the lighting and give the test again .. that wud help
@noName: Yeah, I was just being over dramatic in the post. I know it doesn’t matter much to be colorblind. Fortunately for me, I still have most memories (the good ones anyways!). But in a way its good that you keep forgetting things as you get new things to remember. Memory would get overloaded otherwise
@Venu: You scored 6. I scored 2! And the second one was a guess. So I am totally colorblind. But ya, its good to know that I have company.
@Judge: I don;t think it is not totally bogus. Its possible that it tests only a particular type of colorblindness as there are many.
@Lucio: Professional opinion? for colorblindness? I don’t think so. I am just happy to complain about one more thing
@The Executive Apprentice: I couldn’t see any numbers in most of the patterns and some vague groupings on some which helped me guess one answer. Only the first answer was clearly visible to me. I continued cos I had made guesses for few other questions too and wanted to see how many I got.
@greensatya: Heh! My company is one of the rare companies that does not ask the new hires to go through any psychometric or medical tests. Lucky, huh?
@Abhinav: No, I was never asked to take any colorblindness test ever! I did try changing the monitor settings but it didn’t help
I’m not color blind… but I think its just a guy thing. I don’t think girls can be color blind. THink I learned that in school.
My brother is color blind. He especially has trouble with red and greens.
Oh, and HAPPY V-DAY!
I scored 10/10 in 49 secs. It was a weird test tho… I would go see a doc and be for sure
i couldn’t do the test when i click it it say “sorry page not found.” so sad
