Dilemma

  • Things have been pretty hectic at work for the past one week and it got me thinking if I should get a PC for home so that I can keep blogging and read all the blogs even if there’s too much work. But the dilemma is that I’m not sure if I should buy a desktop or a laptop. Desktop is cheaper but is big n bulky and if I move, I’ll have to take care of it. Laptop is costlier, doesn’t really serve any purpose cos I don’t have to travel much but its lightweight and I do want to own one eventually. I don’t know what to do.
  • I wanted to see King Kong tomorrow but it looks like I’ll have to come to office tomorrow. I’ll somehow find away to watch it.
  • My previous post was linked by someone on a yahoo group of AR Rahman Fans and my blog has been experiencing unusually high traffic since then.

    Congrats for the hits, your analysis was good, ppl find it appealing.

    I would suggest you to go for Laptop. A laptop has much more benefits than Desktop and you never know when you have to travel.

    I agree. A laptop is certainly worth investing in.

    @greensatya: Thanks.

    What you say is ture but i’ll have to take a loan for it cos i’d like to buy a high end laptop that won’t run old too soon.

    @vinaya: Surely a laptop is worth investing in. But sadly there are many other things that i should rather buy on loan than a laptop :(

    Hi there! Just cruisin through, cool blog! I have the same dilema about reading and writing blogs at work vs home. I have a pc at home but its dial up and with the kids and the time of year, I don’t even turn it on.

    tickneen! you’re everywhere!

    hey raj– i would say that laptops are better. i really want one. it would be fabulous. I hate that my computer is stuck down here in the basement. I would be so much happier if i could sit on my bed or the couch, typing away.

    And, King Kong looks like it’ll be great! there are so many movies i want to see– but i never have a chance to get out. :-(

    I would suggest go for a laptop and if your needs are not too many then you should go for a lower end one like a zenith or LG which will cost you Rs 40,00 to Rs 50,000 - if you manage to crack a good deal.

    King Kong is a movie for the IMAX experience. You must see this one (which I dont think south has one) on a screen that is 7 storeys high (An IMAX screen is that big)…will be an experience and a half.

    Work does not seem like work on Saturdays and so I hopw you have a great weekend or whatever of it is left now…

    @tickneen: Thanks for dropping by! Fortunately or unfortunately, I have nobody to disturb me at home.

    @becky: Yeah, laptops certainly have an edge but you’ll have to keep it safe from Erica, right?
    I really hope i am able to watch King Kong this weekend n I hope you get time to catch up on all the good movies soon too.

    @the east street: Though my needs are too many, you get decent enough laptops for INR 50000 these days (Acer is even cheaper).

    Well, Bangalore doesnt have an IMAX yet. for now, i’ll have to be content with watching it on normal multiplex screen.

    I hate working on weekends but i dont have to do it often so i am not too bitter. Thanks, i hope i get to enjoy at least some part of the weekend.

    Invest in a laptop definitely.

    I like my desktop computer. It serves its purpose. If I were to buy a new computer, I’d by the same kind. It’s cheaper. That’s a good thing.

    Though moving was difficult. Fitting all my earthly goods in a little Ford Taurus, being careful not to break the computer was tasking.

    @lucio: hmm…i’m still thnking.

    @abigail: Yeah, immobility is the biggest problem with a desktop and if i have to move from one city to another then it would be a nightmare. This is the exact reason why i didnt bring my home pc when i moved here.
