My Life as a Movie
// October 9th, 2007 // Life, Movies, Tag
As far back as I can remember, I always imagined my life to be a movie once in a while. And this was much before “The Truman Show”. So in my movie, I am obviously the protagonist and the people I know have key roles of varying importance. Some people have main roles, some recurring, others have guest appearances and then there are lots of extras. Though it can get boring at times, it’s mostly interesting with unexpected twists and turns. Is it common for people to think of their lives as a movie? I’d like to know!
I recently saw this movie, “Stranger than Fiction”, in which a guy starts hearing his life being narrated as he leads it. Now that would be annoying! I would never want that to happen to me. But I wouldn’t mind having some background music in my life. Cheerful music when I am happy, suspenseful music when I am anxious, sad or soothing music when I am down and no music at the time of important and serious events. Just like in the movies. That would be fun, right? Even few original theme songs wouldn’t hurt!
While on the subject of movies, I finally got around watching “Before Sunrise” last Saturday. I remember watching first few minutes of the movie years ago on TV and I didn’t like it much back then. I later learnt how it was considered a modern romantic classic of sorts and I got the DVD from a friend months ago so I finally relented and decided to give it a try even though I generally avoid sappy romantic movies. I ended up liking it mostly for its realism. In fact, I liked it so much that I watched the sequel “Before Sunset” the same day. And I liked it better than the first, which happens very rarely. Also, Julie Delpy is brilliant in both the movies, more so in the second one.
I got tagged by Amodini yesterday and since I was already writing this post, I though I would include the tag right here.
The rules of the tag are:
- You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name.
- If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
- At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.
But I’m gonna twist and turn the rules cos its fun that way!
So I may or may not have a middle name but I’m gonna go ahead with “Raj”.
R – I’ve registered myself on so many websites in the past seven and a half years that every time I come across a seemingly new site, I first key in the default username and password I normally use and more often than not, I’m already registered.
A – A lot of people think I’m arrogant. I am not sure if I am. Who cares!
J – I’m bad at telling dirty jokes. And that’s why I never do it! Now that’s one weakness I can live with.
Those were three perfectly useless facts about me. Let me know if you’d be interested in knowing more such facts about me!
Anybody who is in dire need of subject for a new post should feel free to pick this tag up.

hey guyz i like what you are doing sure this is good.
@Abhinav: Alright, will wait for your review then!
@t.magwaza: Thanks for dropping by.
I generally don’t view my life as a movie… but rather, a book. Just because I aspire to be an author.
I’m really odd; sometimes I’ll catch myself ‘writing’ the oddest things in my mind. Like adding commentary to what’s going on around me. [Though sometimes I'm 'writing' things that have absolutely nothing to do with anything in particular. Gosh, I'm so weird!]
As soon as I get to understand it more I am sure that enjoyment will be there then. Thanking You in Advance, Bernie
Ok, so I have never thought of myself as being in a movie. I would not even want that to happen. That would probably be the worst thing that could ever happen!! Yikes! To think that there is someone sitting there, and watching you all the time, knowing what is gonna happen, what has already happened, and yadda yadda. So for me, it is not common for people to think that they are in a movie!
I have not watched any of those movies either. Have been watching a lot of movies though – most of them are crap unfortunately!!
I’ve registered myself on many websites too. Unfortunately, I would know my username, but always forget my password!! haha!
@Becky: A book, huh and with commentary? You should really watch “Stranger Than Fiction”. And I don’t think thats weird at all to mix reality and fiction. That makes it more interesting.
@Freeze: No, no, no! Not that kinda movie! Nobody is actually watching this movie! You just have to imagine that you are in a movie. But nobody actually watches it or does the make up or anything of that sort
Most movies are crap so the probability of watching crappy ones is high!
Ya, I am well aware of your password forgetfulness.
You are aware of my password forgetfulness. Damn, me forgetting passwords was supposed to be a secret!
By the way, what is the point of a movie if no one watches it. movies are made so that people watch it.
@freeze: The movie isn’t complete yet! Once its complete, it will probably be used as evidence just like in the movie “Defending Your Life”.
