The Blue Dot

Few hundred thousand minutes ago, Sayesha wrote a post about her life’s formula and in my comment, I gave a small list of the rules I follow in my life. I still live by those rules. So I thought it would be a good idea to post those on my blog. So here are the rules:

  • Do what you feel is right.
  • If people are bad to you, be worse to them.
  • If people are nice, be nice to them.
  • If people are too nice, be rude to them until they r nice or rude to you.
  • Once you realize you did something stupid, try apologizing. If it doesn’t work, forget about it.
  • Create a new rule when needed.

And I like the way I live my life, so the rules must be working for me.

Moving on, have I ever mentioned how much I love Pandora? It’s simply fantastic. In case you haven’t tried it yet, do so now. It creates a radio station based on your favorite artists and the sound quality is excellent. Lately, I’ve had a chance to listen to lots of new music and my current favorite is “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley. Even its video is superb. I’ve recently discovered Frou Frou too. I love their electronic sound. The tracks “Flicks” and “Breathe in” by them are truly addictive. It’s sad that they disbanded. Speaking of music, I woke up today with the song “SOS” by Rihanna stuck in my head. I have no idea why but it was. I tried hard to get it out of my head but failed. As a result, random people on the streets I passed by got a sample of the song cos I kept humming it and every time I hummed the line “Someone help me, Its not healthy”, I thought to myself that this isn’t healthy either.

I was talking to a close college friend on ym yesterday when I told her that it’s very easy for me to hate someone. And it’s true. I’m a man of strong feelings. The smallest of faults in others can make me dislike or even hate them. Then she asked me why it is so and I thought for a little while and said that that’s just who I am. But after thinking a little more, I’ve decided that it’s because finding faults and shortcomings (in mostly others n sometimes myself too) is the very basis of my existence. And that’s what I’m best at (besides my work, of course). And it’s not like that people don’t deserve my hatred. I mean some guy who’s a friend of my colleague used my system last weekend and left a blue pen mark on my monitor. Now, I don’t know the guy but I know that he a freak. I mean who uses a pen to point to a TFT monitor. Now all I can notice on my monitor is the blue dot. And there’s nothing I can do about it. I can’t ask for a new monitor cos this one has a small blue dot on it, can I?

    i did not get the logic for this one If people are too nice, be rude to them until they r nice or rude to you
    the other rules are followed by me too… blue dot on a TFT monitor i wonder what that guy was trying to do???
    it’s very easy for me to hate someone. Same here, however this is bad and someday or other i have to change this for good…

    //I can’t ask for a new monitor cos this one has a small blue dot on it, can I?
    //

    But nothing stops you from making the dot bigger and asking for a new monitor.

    I guess one more rule for you :)

    hahahaha. so funny!!

    Now all I can notice on my monitor is the blue dot.

    you know, that ain’t healthy either :P

    hehe… though it’s true. If there is something that we don’t like, thats the only thing that comes to our eyes.

    i have one idea to get rid of noticing the blue dot. take a red pen n make a dot in your monitor. now that’s the thing that u will be noticing.

    yeah. dumb. :P

    //If people are too nice, be rude to them until they r nice or rude to you

    I love this one! Amazingly true! :)

    And I can’t believe you dug out a 6-month old post of mine! :P

    @abhinav: Arrey, I get all paranoid when people are too nice to me. I feel like they must have some ulterior motive. But even otherwise, I dont like people who are too nice. I find it unnatural. So my reflex action is to not be nice to them so that they get peeved.

    That dot guy, he’s crazy. Thats the only explanation.

    //however this is bad and someday or other i have to change this for good

    Ya, faltoo mein doosron ki wajah se apna khoon jalta hai. Par kya karen :(

    @greensata: Ahh, I think my company wud definitely send me for counselling if I did that. They wont buy that someone else put a huge dot (can we still call it that?) on my monitor.

    @freeze:

    //you know, that ain’t healthy either

    I know. Infact, I intentionally put wallpapers which are plain in that part of the screen so I can see the dot clearly and frown. I know, I’m sick :(

    U r right, why crib about one dot whne u can crib about two :D

    @sayesha: Ya, I had to go through huge archives (and when I say huge, I mean yoooge) but I finally found it. And in the meantime, also re-read some of your old posts :D

    Blogger’s search function sucks… digging thru archive takes eternity… I have to google to find my own posts!! :O

    Sayesha+keywords on google and bingo! :D

    You good rules dosen’t work for every one.Some people are like goat.If you keep them upon your head they will still do “meey-meey”,and when you keep them down they will do the same “meey-meey”.Not happy with what ever you do.

  8. 8 Raj Jul 3rd, 2006 at 1:37 pm

    @sayesha: Ya, I totally agree that google search is easier than the blog search. Plus it helped u find about that Namkeen, right! :)

    @sharda:

    //”meey-meey”

    Heh, that was really funny. U r right. There are such people but the best thing is to identify these goats so that one doesnt bother abt them anymore. Plus, at times, having such a person in ur life might be helpful in a way. And remember, u can’t please everyone:)

  9. 9 Sayesha Jul 3rd, 2006 at 6:57 pm

    Hey Raj, do you think nail polish remover will help you with that dot?

  10. 10 Raj Jul 4th, 2006 at 9:26 am

    @sayesha: Hmm, you think it might help? Alrite, I’ll buy a bottle today and pu it to test first thing tomo morning :D

  11. 11 Disha Jul 4th, 2006 at 10:03 am

    Nice set of rules, although i am skeptical about the second rule, it may only increase hate.But your fourth rule is really superb!

  12. 12 Raj Jul 5th, 2006 at 8:44 am

    @disha:

    //i am skeptical about the second rule
    Ya, maybe its not the best thing to do but its both natural and practical :)

  13. 13 Sayesha Jul 5th, 2006 at 11:24 am

    K… lemme know how it goes… hope the acetone doesn’t burn a hole on your screen! :P

  14. 14 Becky L Jul 6th, 2006 at 9:33 am

    those are EXTREMELY interesting rules

  15. 15 Raj Jul 6th, 2006 at 9:38 am

    @sayesha:

    //the acetone doesn’t burn a hole on your screen

    I came really close to finding out but hten I read few articles on the net about not using anything with acetone, alcohol or ammonia in it. Somebody had mentioned nail-polish remover without acetone having worked wonders tho. So went to few stores looking for “nail-polish remover without acetone” which resulted in many rasied brows and people looking at me all funny :)

    But no luck as yet :(

  16. 16 Raj Jul 6th, 2006 at 9:39 am

    @becky: Hey, thanks :D

    So went to few stores looking for “nail-polish remover without acetone” which resulted in many rasied brows and people looking at me all funny

    LOL, I can imagine - why does a GUY need nail polish remover without acetone (it exists ?) - to do what exactly ? Oooh, funny !

    -Amodini

  18. 18 Raj Jul 7th, 2006 at 11:42 am

    @amodini: Ya, it was funny for me too cos I expected all that and hence there was no embarrassment involved.

  19. 19 Sayesha Jul 8th, 2006 at 6:59 am

    Nail polish remover without acetone?? Hahahahaha! Bruddah, you will have to manufacture it yourself methinks! :D

    How about another organic solvent? Maybe try a cotton bud dabbed in turpentine or kerosene oil. Oils are not corrosive na?

  20. 20 Raj Jul 10th, 2006 at 10:51 am

    @sayesha: Well, i dont have any solvents so I need to make sure what wil work, buy it in the smallest quantity possible and then carry it to my office. :(

    In the meanwhile, surprisingly, the dot seems to be fading away ( just a li’l but still) :D

  21. 21 Xohra Jul 18th, 2006 at 7:29 pm

    ure so cwazy, its unhealthy :P

  22. 22 Raj Jul 19th, 2006 at 1:36 pm

    @xohra: Heh…true! :D
