Yesterday was Valentine’s day and its a day dedicated to people we love. But do we ever stop and think about loving ourselves. Its no secret that I love myself and I don’t mind being called a narcissist once in a while. In fact, I believe that self-love is important. A famous quote goes “Love yourself, for if you don’t, how can you expect anybody else to love you?”. Why depend on others for love? Just love yourself! Also, listen to the song “Love You” by The Free Design. Its a nice, upbeat song and is sure to bring a smile to your face.
Now, like I’ve done many times in the past, I list few interesting/weird/boring facts about me:
- I often run late in the morning and have to run half the way to the stop to catch the office shuttle. As a result, while walking back home in the evening, I sometimes feel that walking is too slow and boring and so I run at least for some distance even in the evenings.
- I like well-illuminated plants and trees at night.
- Almost every time I try to help a stranger in a “random act of kindness”, I never get any thanks or even a smile from the stranger help. Even though I help them!

If you are running in your office dress in the evening, then people would think someone is after you, or you did something wrong in your office. That is, unless you wear track suits to office :d
I agree we need to tend to loving ourselves.
Satya: I wear casuals and carry a small backpack so most people think I am running to catch the bus even in the evenings. But I do get a lot of stares (even from the dogs!) Anyways I don’t care about what they think
Damien: Yes, we really should love ourselves!
i kno i dnt love me.. coz a lot of my frenz temme that is d reason why i end up in d “love mess” that i always end up in
That is one of the lessons that I have had to learn….loving myself. It has been an eye-opening experience and an enjoyable one. For the first time in my life, I am happy to be single and happy with who I am and am becoming. Thanks for advertising on my site. I wanted to remind you not to forget to drop me a comment on how much you paid for the advert when it runs so you can get the 1/2 price. God bless.
The Free Design! They are known only to the most serious record-collecting hipsters here in the States. Are they known in India?
Darren: Ha ha, no, there are not known in India at all! I know them and particularly this song cos it was included in the soundtrack and end credits of the movie “Stranger Than Fiction”.
Whoever served as Music Consultant for that movie has pretty good taste, since the best scene hinged on another excellent and obscure tune called “(I’d Go The) Whole Wide World” by Wreckless Eric – I was impressed to hear that one in a mainstream movie!
@Darren: Yeah, I agree! Thats another great song I discovered through the movie. I have recommended the song to many friends since then. Its also on my “must learn” songs once I learn to play the guitar properly
