Movie mania and the place I called home

Even though I’ve always been a movie enthusiast, for the past few years, the number of movies I watched reduced dramatically. But ever since I started living alone, away from family, the number of movies I watch has again gone up.

So 2005 started off well. I saw Swades on 1st Jan 2005 and it was pretty good. I saw 30-35 movies in the year gone by and the best among them were Sin City, Parineeta, Black, My Wife’s Murder, King Kong and Yahaan. The worst were Jo Bole So Nihaal, Cursed and Lucky. The biggest disappointments were Mangal Pandey – The Rising and War of the Worlds.

Lets see how this year’s movies fare.

—————-

The house with the red dot on it is where I used to live till February last year. Since I don’t live there anymore, I think its safe to publish the pic here. What you can’t make out from the pic is that the houses are located on a hill and we had a fabulous view from the balcony. Also, the round white structure that you see is a chimney from World War II which gives this place its name, Chimney Hills.

And no ones gonna bomb you. Almighty Bush is still alive.
My choices are twisted but I would still recommend ‘The Cinderella man’to you. I am waiting for 20th jan as that is the date for Rang De Basanti release. It is after a loooong time that I am so excited for a flick, I hope it doesnt send me crashing.

Cindrella man is so - so. Try to see Munich, ppl have seen it and appreciated it.

I had the privilege of seeing the movie “jo bole so nihal” (someone borrowed me the CD). After seeing the movie, I wanted to ask Sunny Deol that “Paisa ke liye kuch bhi karega ….” If some one would give me even Gates’s wealth I won’t act in movies like that.

And what place that would be ? Is it Bangalore ? so they put the details of Bangalore in Google Earth. Few months back it was not there, but I could see helicopters in the hangar of Hindon Air base of IAF.

P.S - If you want list of recommended movies for 2005, you can check out my blog or ask me :)

@akanksha: Don’t underestimate me! Maybe not a stalker but just someone who wants to hurt me might find it useful :D

@sej: The pic is a screenshot from Google Earth. I’ve heard abt Cinderalla Man but I can’t tolerate Russell Crowe for too long. I’m waiting for Rang De Basanti too but i’m 90% sure that it will suck.

@greensatya: I have heard lots of praises for Munich. Will try watching it sometime. The pic is of an area on the outskirts of Bangalore. Hi-res images of the city have been online since september or october last year.

Where is the list of recommended movies on ur blog?

I don’t have them in one post, you could try skimming my archives :p. No, it sounds mean attempt to increase traffic in my blog.

I will try to put up the list and mail you sometimes.

i have yet to see War of the Worlds. I want to see it, just so i can form my own opinion of it. But yes… i have heard several people say it was a let-down.

several commented on Cinderella Man. Raj, i’m with you in that i cant stand watching too much of him. Though, to contradict myself, i liked Gladiator..

Munich doesnt interest me at all. I dunno– just my first impression based on commercials.

my favorite movie of the year has got to be Harry Potter– but thats cuz i’m completely addicted to all things HP.

oh, and about the whole “not sharing where you live” thing– i agree. Better off safe than sorry–

though it is completely unlikely that someone from Blogger will actually try to find us. But, thats why i dont give my last name or city i live in.

@greensatya: k, but do it only if you have the time and its not too much work :)

@priyanka: Oh, its a great place even from the ground. Its an air force station so you can imagine. You could see the whole of Bangalroe light up in the night. Sadly, i didnt have a camera then :(

@becky: I’ve never seen Gladiator either. Munich donest really interest me either but bcos everyone is raving abt it, i’ll force myself to see waht the fuss is all abt. I wanted to see HP but things didnt work out.

Even if there is no danger, I don’t think its wise to give out your address or show ur home’s arial image on the net :)

When I was in primary school, I could see Chimney Hills from the window. It’s been years now… J (w)
