Work is again coming in the way of my blogging. The post frequency would be low for a couple of weeks.
I went to my cousin’s place on Makar Sankranti and somehow the discussion moved to songs that became huge hits but seem very dumb and laughable now. Here are a few examples:
Saath mere aaogi- kahaan, ice cream khaoogi- haan haan – 2
saath bulate ho ice cream khilate ho, bolo irada hain kya
apana yeh wada hain nek iraada hain, waah waah
tumko ghumaunga main duniya dikhaunga main aayega tumko mazza
taram param pam param pam taram param pam – 2
And this one’s even better:
pom pom – 2, hey mama miya mama miya
pyar ki gaadi tez chalaon, accelerator aur dabaaon
prem gali mein mode bahut hain, dekho dil ke tod bahut hain
rasta mudd jaane wala hain, main road aane wala hain
stop, love, love (mama miya pom pom – 2)
These were the lyrics of a popular song from Justice Chaudhury starring Jeetendra and Sridevi. I myself was a big fan of this song. In fact, I had a compilation cassette of this movie with Himmatwala and I listened to it all day. I loved all songs of Sridevi.
Then there was a song from Dance Dance that I absolutely loved:
Aa gaya aa gaya
halwawala aa gaya
aa gaya aa gaya
halwawala aa gaya
rang jamaane aa gaya
roop dikhaane aa gaya
aa gaya aa gaya
halwawala aa gaya
Then, back in the mid 90s, Bali Brahmbhatt became very popular because of:
Amma dekh, aa dekh, tera munda bigda jayee,
Bebe dekh, aa dekh, tera munda bigda jayee.
The song is from a flop movie starring Jackie Shroff called Stuntman.
There are lots of such songs but I don’t have the time to find the lyrics and I’m too lazy to write the lyrics myself.
PS: All the non-Hindi-speaking readers are requested to forgive me for this very Hindi post. I would have loved to translate these songs but there’s no time. *very sad face*

i forgive you
Good one. I think you should also blog about your search for a desktop.
i havent heard the first 2 songs..
but i hav heard halwa wala and amma dekh. amma dekh used to b 1 of my favorite songs.
i cant believ u had jitendra and sridevi songs!!!!!
i cant believ ur choice was sooo ewww when u wre younger…
some of the lyrics are really senseless.
I think that pepe in movie stuntman is actually bebe.
In punjabi we call an elderly woman as bebe.
@becky: Thanks
@vinaya: Thanks. I will write abt my desktop search when I get some time. Just waiting for the whole story to take a proper direction.
@akanksha: Whoa! You didnt hear these songs. You’re not a true bollywood fan then.
//cant believ u had jitendra and sridevi songs!!!!!
Hey, I was 3. And if you heard these songs as a kid, you would have been a fan too. I mean, how could a kid not like a song about ice cream? And i liked Sridevi, so what? She was the biggest star at the time.
@sej: Yes, these lyrics are senseless.
//I think that pepe in movie stuntman is actually bebe.
I thought so too but the site I got these lyrics from is a big site so I thought maybe there’s something called “peepe” too. I’ll edit it then
I am with Akanksha here, haven’t heard of those two songs even.
Jeetendra and Sridevi..bah!! the mere mention of such names leaves a bad taste in mouth and reminds me of doordarshan 4pm movie on sundays..yuck ..
@greensatya: Then you are not a true bollywood fan either (which, i know, you aren’t so..i dont know what i’m trying to say
)
A true fan would laugh at those 80s movies but their mention would never leave a “bad taste” in his/her mouth.
I was a huge fan of Sridevi at a time and I dont think you have seen her great performaces. Anybody who has seen Chandni and Sadma would agree that she is a great actress.
You can’t sum up the 80′s movies with these two Sridevi and Jeetendra. I always thought Sridevi needed some plastic surgery to align her upper and lower jaw….if she was the bollywood then bollywood was pathetic.
@greensatya: You missed a very vital “those” in my comment which meant all the laughable movies of 80s
Stop saying bad stuff abt Sridevi *extremely hurt*
She was bad in the beginning but she more than proved herself later.
//if she was the bollywood then bollywood was pathetic.
Well, she was the “no.1″ for sometime and neither she nor bollywood were patthetic.
Seriously, what has she ever done to you?
Me too agrees Sri Devi was a good actress. Chaalbaaz was good too. As was Mr India. Even Gumrah. And Lamhe. In my list of bollywood geroines she ranks in the top 3.
Though having devi in her name was a stretch
Guess I have made the situation pretty awkard, isn’t it ?
Dear All,
I issue unconditional apology for hurting Raj’s and any of yours sentiments for my (insensitive) remarks made on certain high ranking personality of Indian entertainment industry.
Since the comment is already there and a copy in mail box of Raj, I can’t deny it or else I would done that :p. Nor I could say my that remark was not intentional as all ‘acts are deliberate’
Though I have my reservations about the performance and more so of appearance of the said person but I would have reacted in the similar if I were you all.
I have pretty limited taste of art and such so I would be grateful if you all take my comments for what it is worth.
I guess the cold here has made me a bit cynical so please take my comments with pinch of salt. Weather update shortly coming on my blog.
To make it up to all of you, I promise to take all of you out for one of her shows as and when I reach Bangalore.
I also promise not to have the temerity of speaking anything against her in your all’s presence.
Hope to cut some slack.
With best regards
‘green’Satya
@sej: I never knew you were a fellow Sridevi fan
@greensatya: Apology accepted
Ha ha…Everyone has their own opinion so its not wrong of you to dislike “the said person” but if you express your opinion on a fan’s blog then he would obviously not like it.
//Since the comment is already there and a copy in mail box of Raj, I can’t deny it or else I would done that
oh, u can never be a politician then cos a politician would have successfully done that.
//I guess the cold here has made me a bit cynical
Atleast you have the weather to blame. I can’t even do that.
I am sorry for making a big deal out of it
Noooo, I want to be a politician one day. It is my dream.
Thanks for accepting the apology. I am getting into the habit of putting my foot in mouth.
I put remarks about Australian cricketers on Sher’s blog and now about A R Rehman and SriDevi on your blog. I actually don’t know about personalities whom you like
so I assume yuo all to be neutral :p
lol duuuuude. apology accepted
.. Greensatya is de cutest blogger ever:P
LOL…you bought back many childhood memories:)
@greensatya: Yeah, but last time, I supported you and it were the other fans who were pissed. That doesn’t count. This is my blog. You just need to keep me happy not the one time visitors
But things happen for the good. Somebody thinks you r the cutest now
@xohra: Whoa, whats that? You can’t call him the cutest blogger on my blog :O
Do it on his blog
@vamsee:
Btw, my verification word is “jdbc”gu.
ha ha
what about “mein laila laila chillaonga kurta phad ke”? , that raveena and govinda song.
oh, and i kinda hate bollywood too. though i loved bollywood movies 3 or 4 yrs back.
@freeze: Well, most govinda songs are like that but I never liked them cos they sounded dumb even back then.
So what happened in the past 3-4 yrs that made you hate bollywood?
Well, I dont mind as long as you dont say anything bad abt Sridevi, which you shouldn’t do anyway
ok, i guess ‘hate’ is a strong word. I just got bored of watchin the same kind of movies again and again. Sridevi is kind of ok, i guess.
Hahahahaha!
You should add on to this list yaar… there are SO many more!!!!
E.g. Accident ho gaya rabba rabba!
I am a disco dancer teyn teyn teyn!
Sone ki cycle, chandi ki seat!
Hahahahahaha!
@sayesha: Ya, gaane to bahut hain but I wasnt in he mood to think when i wrote this. Will write another post on this sometime
