Arrested Development

And now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together… It’s Arrested Development.

Cast of Arrested Development

In case, you’ve never heard about it, which is a sad possibility, Arrested Development is an award winning comedy show. In just two and a half years of existence, it has won 6 Emmys and countless other awards. In my opinion, it is one of the best comedy shows ever and this opinion is shared by millions of fans across the world. But since most people in the world and hence the US are used to watching mediocre, half-baked comedies, they have somehow not been able to recognize its worth.

Fox, the network on which it airs in the US, is trying hard to keep the show on but consistently low ratings are forcing them to cancel the show. It’s not official yet but it is bound to happen. Talks are also on with some other networks to support the show.

Since Fox brought back Family Guy after being cancelled due to the fans’ request, fans are hoping the same happens, this time even before the show is cancelled.

Being a huge fan of the show, I request everyone to visit Save Our Bluths and see how you can help. Also start watching the show if you don’t already. You’ll love it.

    i’ve never actually seen it…

i try to limit what shows i watch. I’m easily addicted to tv, so i try to never watch something “just once.”

the #1 comedy on my list is “The Office.” it also is not a mediocre, “run of the mill” comedy. But, i cant really compare since i know nothing about arrested development.

I have never seen this and not even heard of it.

The only soap which I am watching these days from USA is ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”. It was good in season 1 and better till first few episodes of season 2 but not any more.It is now doing what all soad do, stretching the story…

Anyday I would rather love to surf internet for 10 hours than watching television.

@akanksha: I know u don’t get to watch TV here so I wouldn’t have thought so at all :)

    ps: I’m not that judgemental

@becky: I’ve never seen the US version of ‘The Office’ but the original Uk version is oretty great. But you must try watching AD sometime. Its great too.

@greensatya: Thats sad to know. In my opinion, the only good thing about Desperate Housewives is Eva Longoria. It sux otherwise.

@abigail: Its still on. Try watching it once. You won’t repent it :)

    Raj,

    You say :

“But since most people in the world and hence the US are used to watching mediocre, half-baked comedies . . .”

No, not really :-) . Most non-funny comedies go off-air after a season in the US. I’m sure “Scrubs”, “Will and Grace” etc. are telecast in India too - so you can see for yourself the (high) quality of comedy on the US networks - they really have a funny bone.

And no, I haven’t seen AD.

@amodini: Well, I know all genralisations are wrong but I think there are more unfunny comedies on air than the funny ones. “Will and Grace” is a rare case of a great sitcom being acknowledged. “Scrubs” struggled a lot and even though it has been doing well in the award circles, I don’t think its ever been very high on the ratings. I wasnt talking about the extremely unfunny sitcomes that are taken off-the-air after first few episodes. I was talking abt how some not-very-good shows like “Yes, Dear” and “The King Of Queens” get to say on-air for a longer time than they deserve and other more deserving shows don’t.
